At the end of June, after four years at Ciret, we said farewell to our Financial Controller Peter, who has now retired (read his "Goodbye" news post here). Throughout June, Peter has shown our new team member David the ropes of this challenging role. We would now like to officially welcome David to the Ciret team.

To get to know David and find out about his background, I asked him a few questions

Let’s see what he had to say;

Susanne: “David tell us a bit about yourself?”

David: “I was born in Barnsley, Yorkshire and grew up in a town called Market Drayton in Shropshire. Now I live in Portsmouth with my wife Sarah and we’ve been married for 22 years.”

Susanne: “What do you like doing in your free time?”

David: “I’m a very outdoorsy person and enjoy walking, cycling and hiking. We recently climbed Mount Snowdon in Wales, which was a great experience, and we’re planning to climb Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands in the near future.

I’m a bit of an adrenalin junky and love adventures including zip lines and canyon swings ???? Meeting up with friends and eating out is something a bit less adrenalin filled that I also enjoy very much.”

Susanne: “What’s the most exciting holiday you’ve had and what is your dream holiday destination?”

David: “I love a beach holiday and particularly enjoyed diving in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. My most favourite place to visit is New Zealand as it’s such a beautiful, diversified country. We had a fantastic trip to NZ in March which was unfortunately cut short by Coronavirus. We’re definitely planning to go back though!”

Susanne: “Now I’d like to find out a bit more about your education and work background. What did you study?”

David: “I’ve got a Mathematics Degree for Finance & Management and trained to be an accountant (CIMA)."

Susanne: “What was your first job and where did you work before you started at Ciret?”

David: “My first job was working as a lifeguard at a local swimming pool when I was a teen. After I finished university, I started my first ‘proper job’ as a Credit Controller at GKN Aerospace. My last workplace was Nolato Jaycare in Farlington.”

Susanne: “What do you like the most about your job role and what are the biggest challenges?”

David: “What I enjoy the most about the role of Credit Controller is that I can assist a business with improving their financial position by providing clear and accurate data. The biggest challenge is making sure that everything runs smoothly.”

Susanne: “What are your first impressions of your new job, the company itself and your colleagues? – Bit of a trick question ???? ”

David: “The company seems a friendly place, it felt like home on the first day.”

Thank you so much again David for taking the time to answer my questions. I feel like I got to know you a lot better and I’m sure my colleagues will agree. It’s nice to have you onboard and we wish you all the best in your role.
